FAQ – PergoLine | Terrace shutters, systems, installation, delivery

1. Types of systems and terrace shutters

What types of PergoLine systems are available?

There are 4 types of systems, and almost all the ones you can identify at this moment can be found on the website.

PergoLino
Metal system, perfect straight closure, operating and locking levers, for installation with horizontal slats. For perfect straight closure, it requires specially processed slats, which we supply in several types of materials. If you give up the perfect closure, you can use simple wooden slats with the characteristics shown in the description, and they will close in a shingle style. We supply both separate systems and kits with slats in different sizes.

DecoLine
A range with aluminum hardware that allows only shingle-style closure. We produce and supply only the DIY systems, with installation instructions and recommendations for making the slats locally from cladding / wood with characteristics of 100–120 mm width and 19–22 mm thickness.

PergoLino Vertical
For installation with vertical slats, allowing you to obtain movable slatted panels, with perfect straight closure. Compatible with specially processed slats. We supply both the systems and kits with wooden or metal slats, to achieve top-level aesthetics and functionality.

Composite systems – HDPE
Shingle-style closure, with wooden slats of 100–110 mm width and 18–20 mm thickness, with horizontal spans of up to 120 cm. Installation is possible both horizontally and vertically, with limitations regarding slat dimensions.

If you are still not sure:
Send us your dimensions and your idea, and we will tell you exactly which system suits you.

Do you offer solutions for any type of project?

What does a “complete terrace shutter system” mean?

Here we position PergoLine as a “one stop shop” for terrace shutters: several product ranges, with different characteristics, suitable for different applications.

2. PergoLino vs sliding systems

What is the difference between PergoLino and aluminum sliding systems?

The main difference is in the closing method, slat control, and the level of finish of the final result.

PergoLino – metal system with full control

  • perfect straight closure (the slats align completely)

  • possibility of locking in closed position

  • lever for operation and adjustment

  • very good control of light, wind, and partially rain

You can use:

  • special slats (for perfect closure)

  • or simple wood (shingle-style closure, without locking)

Result: a more “technical”, more precise system, with a premium look.

Aluminum sliding systems (DecoLine / Meșteri Mari) – simple and flexible system

  • shingle-style closure (the slats overlap)

  • no locking mechanism

  • no adjustment lever

  • simple installation, very DIY-friendly

They use:

  • standard wooden / cladding slats

  • easy to find and process locally

Result: a simple, efficient, accessible system.

Short difference:

PergoLino = control + perfect closure + premium
Aluminum sliding systems = flexibility + simplicity + DIY

How do you choose quickly?

Do you want full closure and precise control → choose PergoLino
Do you want simple installation and optimized cost → choose aluminum sliding systems

Important:
Both systems allow you to build functional terrace shutters. The difference is in the level of control and the type of final result.

Which system offers perfect straight closure?

PergoLino systems are the ones that offer perfect straight closure.

Available variants:

  • PergoLino (horizontal)

  • PergoLino Vertical

  • the slats align completely, without gaps between them

  • possibility of locking in closed position

  • precise light control and better protection against wind / rain

Important:
For this closure, it is necessary to use specially processed slats, supplied or recommended by us.

What does NOT offer perfect closure?

  • Systems with aluminum sliding systems (DecoLine / Meșteri Mari)

  • Composite HDPE systems

These work on the shingle-style (overlapping) principle.

Which system offers shingle-style closure?

Systems with aluminum sliding systems (DecoLine / Meșteri Mari) and composite HDPE systems work on the shingle-style (overlapping) principle.

Which system is more resistant to rain?

PergoLino systems are the most effective when it comes to protection against rain.

Why PergoLino?

  • perfect straight closure – the slats align without gaps

  • possibility of locking in closed position

  • significantly reduce water and wind penetration

They offer the best level of protection among all available systems.

How do the other systems compare?

DecoLine / Meșteri Mari (aluminum) and Composite HDPE

  • shingle-style closure (overlapping)

  • offer partial protection

  • do not completely seal against rain

Important to know:
No system is 100% sealed like a roof. All are designed mainly as sunshade + windbreak.

Conclusion:

Best protection against rain → PergoLino
Partial protection → the other systems

Which system is more suitable for modern design?

PergoLino Vertical is the most suitable choice for a modern, architectural design.

Why PergoLino Vertical?

  • vertical slatted look, very common in current architecture

  • clean and elegant lines

  • perfect straight closure

  • can be made with wooden or metal slats

It offers a premium, minimalist, and well-defined look.

Modern alternative (horizontal)

PergoLino (horizontal)

  • clean, uniform design

  • suitable for modern terraces with straight lines

  • more oriented toward function + aesthetics

What do you choose depending on the style?

Do you want a modern facade / vertical slatted look → PergoLino Vertical
Do you want an elegant, discreet terrace → PergoLino horizontal
Do you want a simpler, more rustic / DIY option → DecoLine / HDPE

Conclusion:

Premium modern design → PergoLino Vertical
Modern design + functionality → PergoLino

Can I combine the two systems in the same project?

Yes, PergoLine systems can be combined, and it is actually a very good solution in many situations.

How are they combined correctly?

PergoLino (horizontal) for areas where you want:

  • better closure

  • rain protection

  • precise control

DecoLine / aluminum sliding systems or HDPE for areas where you want:

  • flexibility

  • simpler installation

  • cost optimization

PergoLino Vertical for:

  • facades

  • front: DecoLine (cost + flexibility)

  • decor / division: PergoLino Vertical

You get a balance between functionality, budget, and aesthetics.

Important:
The systems are not installed “in the same panel”, but in different areas of the project. Each system is used where it performs best.

3. Your concept

What exactly do I buy from PergoLine?

From PergoLine, you buy the systems (hardware) needed to build terrace shutters with adjustable slats.

Specifically, what does it include?

  • metal or aluminum systems (PergoLino, DecoLine, HDPE)

  • components for fixing and guiding the slats

  • operating mechanisms (where applicable – PergoLino)

  • installation instructions

In some cases:

  • you can also purchase complete kits with slats included

What is NOT included (in most cases)?

  • wooden slats (for DIY systems)

These are made locally from:

  • wood

  • cladding

  • or other compatible materials

Recommended dimensions:

  • width: 100–120 mm

  • thickness: 19–22 mm

Why this system?

  • more efficient cost (you do not pay for shipping bulky wood)

  • total flexibility (you choose the desired material)

  • easy to adapt to your project

Conclusion:

PergoLine gives you the structure + mechanism, and you complete it with the slats that suit your project.

If you want a complete option, we can also offer kits with slats included, depending on the system.

Are the slats included?

It depends on the chosen system.

Available options

Systems + slats included (complete kit)
Available especially for PergoLino

  • you receive everything ready for installation

  • special slats (for perfect closure)

System only (without slats)
For DecoLine / aluminum sliding systems and HDPE

  • you make the slats locally from wood / cladding

  • more flexible and more accessible solution

What do you need to know if you choose the option without slats?

Recommended dimensions:

  • width: 100–120 mm

  • thickness: 19–22 mm

Easy to find and process locally.

Conclusion:

Do you want a complete solution → choose a PergoLino kit
Do you want flexibility and optimized cost → choose a system without slats

Why don’t you include the wood?

For some systems, we do not include the wood or the slats for practical, cost, and flexibility reasons. These are systems that allow the slats to be made from materials that are easy for you to source locally. These are systems that close in a shingle / overlapping style, and the slats can be made from cladding / boards / WPC / metal elements or aluminum.

1. Shipping becomes much more expensive

  • wood is bulky and heavy

  • it significantly increases delivery costs, especially in Europe

  • it would double or even triple the total order cost

2. Wood is easy to find locally

  • available in any country (wood, cladding, etc.)

  • it does not make sense to transport it over long distances

  • you can choose the exact wood species and finish you want

3. Flexibility for your project

You can choose:

  • natural wood

  • thermally treated wood

  • cladding

  • or other compatible options

You adapt the project according to your budget and design.

4. We avoid transport risks

  • wood may suffer deformation, cracks, or damage

  • international transport is not ideal for such materials

Exception

For PergoLino, we also offer kits with slats included, special slats processed for perfect closure.

Conclusion:

We deliver the system, and you choose the wood that suits your project.

If you need it, we can tell you exactly what type of wood to use.

Where can I buy the wood?

Wood for the slats can be purchased very easily locally, from most DIY stores or timber depots.

Recommended sources

  • DIY / home improvement stores

  • building material depots

  • carpentry workshops

  • local wood / cladding producers

What type of material can you use?

  • natural wood (fir, pine)

  • thermally treated wood (more resistant outdoors)

  • exterior cladding (rhombus profile or similar)

Recommended dimensions

  • width: 100–120 mm

  • thickness: 19–22 mm

Easy to find in most European markets.

Important recommendation

  • choose dry wood treated for outdoor use

  • apply protection (oil / stain / wood preservative) before installation

Conclusion:

The wood does not need to be transported — you can find it locally, quickly, and more cheaply. PergoLine Meșteri Mari / DecoLine / Composite systems are designed exactly for this flexibility.

What are the advantages of the DIY system?

The DIY (Do It Yourself) system allows you to make your own terrace shutters more quickly, more flexibly, and at better cost.

1. More efficient cost

  • you do not pay labor costs

  • you do not pay for shipping bulky wood

4. Configuration and flexibility

Can the systems be adapted to any size?

What if I have a non-standard size?

Can I combine multiple kits?

Yes — PergoLine systems are designed to be flexible and adaptable to almost any project.

How does it work in practice?

  • you can combine multiple kits to achieve the desired height

  • you can divide large openings into several shutters (recommended)

  • you can adapt the dimensions through the slats, depending on your space

For non-standard sizes

The solution is not a “fixed” product, but an adapted configuration:

  • adding fixed slats

  • adjusting the height during installation

  • dividing into sections

Important

  • there are recommended limits (for example: maximum width per shutter)

  • for good results, the project must be planned correctly from the beginning

Conclusion:

We do not work with rigid standard sizes. We work with modular systems that adapt to your project.

What is the maximum recommended width?

Can I make vertical and horizontal shutters?

Yes — you can make both horizontal and vertical shutters, but it is important to respect a few limits for a correct and durable result.

Maximum recommended width

For most systems:

  • 120–150 cm / shutter (depending on the type of system and the slat material)

For optimal results:

  • we recommend dividing large openings into several sections

Example:

  • 300 cm width → 2 shutters of ~150 cm

Vertical or horizontal?

Horizontal – up to 150 cm (see each system separately)

  • suitable for most terraces

  • better control of light and rain

  • compatible with all systems

Vertical – up to 300 cm (see each system separately)

  • modern design (slatted look)

  • suitable for facades and dividers

  • requires dedicated systems (e.g. PergoLino Vertical / aluminum / HDPE)

Important

Width depends on:

  • the type of system

  • the slat material

  • wind exposure

Exceeding the recommended dimensions may affect functionality.

5. Installation

Can I fully enclose the terrace?

Yes, visually and functionally you can enclose the terrace.

Important:

  • these are not 100% sealed systems like a wall or glass

  • they are designed as sunshade + windbreak

Conclusion:

Maximum protection → PergoLino
Good protection, more flexible → the other systems
You can enclose the terrace, but not completely airtight

If you have an exposed area, we can help you choose the right configuration.

Can they be used for roofing?

No — PergoLine systems are not designed as roofing solutions.

Why?

  • they are not sealed systems

  • they are not designed for water drainage

  • they do not correctly handle large amounts of rainwater

They are designed mainly for:

  • side terrace walls

  • protection from sun, wind, and side rain

Can they still be used above?

  • yes, but only as a sunshade

  • not as a waterproof roof

Conclusion:

We do not recommend using them as a roof. They are ideal for side terrace enclosures.

How do they perform over time?

System durability

PergoLino (galvanized and painted metal)
